A woman has outraged people around the world after posting a photo to Facebook that apparently showed a dog with the mouth taped shut.
Katie Brown posted the photo on Friday with a caption that read, “This is what happens when you dont shut up!!!”
Since then, authorities in two states said they’ve been flooded with calls about her. But nobody seems to know where she is, according to NBC Connecticut.
Who is Katie Brown and where is she?
Her legal name is Katharine F. Lemansky and she is believed to be traveling back to Florida from Connecticut, her son reportedly told South Daytona police.
Her Facebook page suggested she may live in South Daytona, Florida, or Avon, Connecticut and police in both cities said they’ve been flooded with calls.
The South Daytona Police Department said they received so many calls it was tying up their emergency lines.
Animal control officials in Connecticut said they got so many emails it crashed their inbox.
The South Daytona Police Department and the Avon Police Department have both reportedly launched investigations, but there is still no word on the woman’s whereabouts.
Police in Florida said it appears that she hasn’t lived in South Daytona for more than a year and currently lives in Avon, Conn.
But police in Connecticut said they don’t believe she currently lives in Avon. Avon police said officers visited the home of the alleged abuse and determined it did not occur in Avon.
The photo had been shared nearly 400,000 times as of Saturday night. People from around the world shared the public photo, calling for action to be taken against the dog’s owner.
Brown wrote a second message on Facebook saying, “Dont panic everyone it was only for a minute but hasnt barked since… POINT MADE!!!”
As of Sunday, it appears that the Facebook post has either been deleted or made private.
